I just ordered and is on backorder...any idea when more will be available?

Hello DGore, I just took a look, and though Amazon is showing these files as out of stock, they're getting more of them moved around to their various warehouses as we speak. We just sent a few more files to Amazon last week so it should only be a few days. They often overstate the back in stock date by a few days, but you can come back the next day (or later that day) and they'll show as "In Stock". Worst case you can check the other listing that we fulfill (the one that says "Sold by and ships from FretGuru") and I can send it out within a few days. Thanks again, Bernie / FretGuru

Why this over the StewMac version?

The main advantage is the FretGuru fret end file has a bottom that is 2x as wide, the advantage being it stays stable and planted on fingerboard, and doesn't topple over dig into your fingerboard like the narrow SM file. The bottom is also diamond honed and polished by hand here at our shop, so it's extra smooth to prevent damage to your fingerboard.
