Organic* Coffee

Love this coffee! I wanted to cut out preground coffee for fresher and cleaner coffee and happy I did :) I was paying $10 a pound for Folgers Black Silk grounds and I got 4 pounds of this for about $30ish so it's cheaper and it's even organic! I loveee the taste of black silk and wanted a dark roast, decided to try this one and it definitely doesn't taste like black slik but it's VERY good in its own way! No nutty or fruity taste just dark and roasty, mmm! I usually base my creamer amount by color of the coffee and when I tried it with this one it was wayyy to sweet, I use x2 LESS creamer now. It's so dark and doesn't take much to sweeten up, soo good! Makes a great cold brew and hot cup of coffee. Try it out! :) will definitely be getting this one again!

I have NEVER brewed what I could consider a cup of coffee which tastes as good as fresh roasted beans smell. Even this coffee didn't get all the way around that several lifetimes curse. HOWever, I can say with at least some confidence that these beans are worthy of the praise in reviews. One thing I notice about coffee when it's truly based from a good bean processed with care: It tastes good lukewarm and cool as well as it does hot. Normally I can't stand coffee unless it remains in the hot range. In the case of Cameron's ebony, oily, glossy beans, the coffee I brewed tastes almost better cool than it does hot. I'm in the early phases of stocking my cupboards with certified organic foods, so this is the first of this type of treasured coffee I've purchased. I am absolutely ecstatic to have an organic coffee which even my acid aura can't pH down to bitter, LOL. Just to have quality gourmet organic coffee beans, whoa! I'm almost beginning to feel blessed again. Interesting observation about ORGANIC bigger than the roast type, and relating it to [attempts to focus] audience. I had noticed that [priority] subliminally, but not clearly until you noted it. I'm clinging by fingernails in that audience at the moment, though years ago I would have been looking for flavor markers first and only. Now, if it's not organic, I'm crossing forefingers from each hand, warding off a plague or a curse. Been too sick for too long; I'm also crossing fingers in the other way, on one hand, in hopes that the availability will continue for viable, economical, flavorful organic foods. I came to a point not long ago when I was seriously concerned I wouldn't be able to eat anything at all again, due to soy products everywhere, in everything. An intolerance to soy and its accompanying trains of GMO's and toxins can be terrifying in addition to deadly serious. Thankfully increasing magnesium input is helping keep excess toxic intake rapidly "moving OUT" so I can again eat foods from grocery stores and restaurants. But, I'm increasing my stock of ORGANIC from Amazon, to give me a core of sanity, health, and strength for my body to work from. A core of that is all I think I'll need, but it's not quite solid enough yet. IMO, we all have different taste needs, unique genetic structures, and dynamic chemical balances... different "constitutions"... Believing that, and believing in free choice, I don't have any desire to limit other peoples' preferences from the marketplace... I just hope to have access to adequate products for my needs to keep me alive and healthy enough to appreciate that state of being... if I'm even right in what I discern my needs to be. I bought this bcuz it is ORGANIC. I switched Starbucks French Roast for this. We have drank Starbucks for decades. I did not tell my husband. After a couple days he told me I was making really good coffee lately. He asked what I was doing differently. Surprise! He loves it. We have permanently switched! Plus, the price is much better.

It was great while it lasted - cood coffee and good price. For some reason the French roast has not been available for purchase in the 28oz size.

I haven't been a coffee drinker for very long, but this is my favorite variety so far. Since I read that coffee beans are one of the most pesticide-laden consumables you can buy, I've been opting for organic. I don't use any sweeteners, but usually add a good amount of whole milk. As a child I loved coffee ice cream, Haagen Daz in particular, but hardly ever have it now. This sort of reminds me of it. The flavor comes through even with the milk, without being bitter. I don't like Starbuck's French Roast (too bitter) and haven't liked any other dark roasts I've tried, so I didn't expect to like this that much. I think my tastes have been changing to prefer a more roast-driven flavor, so maybe I'd like the dark roasts I've tried better if I tried them again. Since I've had the Cameron's Organic French, I've not enjoyed the medium-roast coffees as much and had to make them stronger and use less milk to get more of the flavor I'm looking for. I tried Cameron's when the price dropped and am hoping it will drop significantly again. In the meantime, I'm expecting some varieties of Café Altura in my next subscribe-and-save shipment. There's a coupon available on them now. I've been using other people's reviews to try to determine how the qualities I prefer are described in coffee lingo, and what other varieties I might like (thanks!). To my surprise, this is said to have a somewhat bittersweet profile. I'm guessing the milk cuts down on the bitterness significantly, and though I don't find this acidic, I think that some acidity, bitterness and deeply roasted flavor are necessary to make the overall flavor really pop with milk. I love all milk products, the higher the fat content, the better, and I can't imagine I'll ever want to drink black coffee. I'm not just drinking this for the caffeine; it's a treat. Edit 8/15/14: I like this much more than Café Altura's Organic Sumatran Dark Roast, which in comparison, although it's bold, seems to have a thinner, more watery body and has a distinct flavor in it that I don't like. I'm not sure what that flavor is, but it lingers. Maybe it's too much of an earthy, wood-type (cedar?), herbal or citrus note. I had a cup of black Cameron's Organic French leftover for a few days in my frig that tasted much better, both cold and heated (both times with milk added). Another plus for Cameron's French is that it's definitely easier on my stomach, probably due to less acidity. Even with extra milk, I sometimes get heartburn from the Café Altura Sumatran. Edit 6/20/17: We have tried maybe 10 other organic dark-roast coffees, but are always much happier when we go back to Cameron's Organic French Roast. Though the beans sometimes appear oilier than other times, the flavor is consistently bold and great.

8.18.25~ Update Halfway through my 4lb bag of whole beans which is so more affordable than my usual 28 oz. Yes the beans are shiny with deep coffee color. Yes it smells like heaven when I grind it. Yes my body levitates when I take the 1st to last Hot Brew sip. Yes it's better than Lavazza for Cold Brew. Yes I ordered another one before coffee becomes a luxury. Cheers! Original review~ Let me say, I am a Lavazza addict! Whole bean, ground, espresso, gran crema, doesn't matter. It's just a consistently good coffee & Amazon Subscribe & Save affordable. Yes, I tried this bc it had a S&S coupon & organic French roast really does taste better. As good as this is, it's out of my price range for every day coffee. I would totally splurge for a weekend roast when you can actually sit & enjoy a cup. It smells fantastic like a coffee shop in the morning. I drink black & it's smoooooth, no bitter at all. I wasn’t expecting much with this purchase because I had been disappointed with a previous bulk coffee purchase (it was old coffee and not worth the price I paid.) This coffee however, was amazingly GOOD! The bag it came in was vacuum sealed with an extended expiration date (about a year.) It smelled delicious when I opened the bag, nice and strong which is what I expected. The brew was outstanding! I used a little too much as I expected it to be generic tasting like the other coffee but it was full bodied and bold. I will be buying more!

Cameron's French Roast is a good dark bean coffee for today's price. We need a 5 Lbs bag at a lower price per ounce.
