This or thinderbirds? which is easier, yet still has depth/strategy? i hear both are pandemic-ish.

This seems easier to win than Thunderbirds, at least initially. Even the "easy" Thunderbirds setting can be daunting, but we managed to win this (barely) the first time out. It definitely has depth and co-op strategy, though. We figured out by the end some places to improve next time we play. At first blush, I like it better than Pandemic -- which we even played the year-long version. But I tend to like monsters more than diseases, so take that into account!

How does this scale down to two players? I would primarily be playing this with one other person.

Having played it quite a few times the more players the harder it gets. I would say 2 to 3 being the best with solo play being the easiest.

Is there an Abbott & Costello expansion in the pipeline for this game?

Check BoardGameGeek for printable fan expansions that include Phantom of the Opera and The Fly monster sheets and Abbott and Costello hero card for this awesome game.

Are the monsters 3D printed or die cast?

They are plastic injection molded. Mass production precludes the use of 3D printing due to its inefficiency.
