Bought along with other fishing items for a Christmas gift. They can’t wait to use it. Looks to be good quality.

Works great easy to use

This is a sturdy and well thought out fishing tool. I tested the claim of water proofing and floating. It appears to do this well enough as shown in my photos. The spring clip for holding fish does not float, as sown in my photo of it sunk to the bottom of the bow of water. The battery housing is sealed and has nice metal female screw holes embedded in the plastic body for better durability. Note that the unit comes without batteries and takes two AAA. Also note that the otherwise well designed lid does NOT have screw keepers and the small screws are easy to drop. I would not try to change batteries on the water because if this. The big plastic clip has a strong spring that is reminiscent of an exercise hand grip. I used the scale to register a 12-15lb. spring pressure. Although the instructions say this clip will be less harmful to the fish than running the smooth metal hook through the hull plate, I have to wonder a little about that. I think you’d have to be careful either way. The bout in tape measure is water sealed with a robust plug when not in use. It is not clear if it is made if stainless steel or regular steel. I didn’t test it. If you do get it wet, it is not obvious how to dry it if it goes back j to its water tight compartment still wet. It may be a non-issue; tine will tell. The display and operation are all good and it feels sturdy. I had to dry-lab this review because it is not dishing time here just now. I will update if needed.

I purchased this scale on 4/14/24 and it worked great the first time I got to used it. The 2nd time I used it, a few months later, the batteries were dead and the center "lb/oz/tare" button wasn't working. It won't push so I cannot set anything. The scale works but I cannot set the tare at all. Also the scale will go to the hold mode on weighing but there is no way to un-hold it and do another weighing. I believe it is also not allowing the scale to turn off and it is quickly draining the batteries. I replaced the batteries in the evening and they were dead the next morning. The scale is totally useless and I am past my return date. I don't know who to contact for a possible warranty return, if that is even possible. I have stored this scale in the top tray of my tackle box so there was no way the button could have been damaged or accidently pushed while stored.
