will these hold a 5x7 card? or will they fall over?

Yes they will! My table numbers were that size I believe and they held great. They are very sturdy.

I want to display antique photos and cards in these. Will they bend/damage the item?

They did not damage the cards we had in them for our banquet. I think they would hold a photo pretty well with no damage.
