This book digs into the authentic gospel stylings associated with great artists such as Ray Charles and Aretha Franklin. The first part of the book deals with the 3/4 or Slow Gospel style (used in the song Amazing Grace, for example), showing the harmonic techniques needed to create the real gospel sound on the piano. The second part focuses on the 4/4 or Fast Gospel style, where gospel harmonies are combined with up-tempo rhythms and syncopations to create exciting results (such as in Paul Simon's song Gone at Last). The techniques covered in this book will help you lead your congregation at the piano, and will inject new ideas into your rock, R&B and funk playing. Review: aimed at beginners - very basic book which really only describes how to construct basic triad patterns ,offers no serious insight into the nuances of gospel piano voicings, progressions, or technique. If you already no how to play a C,F,G progression this is defintely not the book for you.The only book I've bought from desertcart which I have considered returning.I have still given the book two stars because for an absolute beginner it may be useful. Review: didactique - well written (didactic, so good for beginners) 2 main chapters: it starts with the slow gospel and then the fast gospel

Great work
This book is a great starting point for R & B, and related key board players. The material is straight forward and takes the reader through the steps of organizing an excellent progression. I recommend this book for producers, song writers and people beginning in the gossiple style playing in churches.

A very good technical book
A very good technical book, goes in depth into the chord structures. It would have been a five star rating had there been some samples of songs using the methods illustrated. Overall very challenging.
