Spanning four decades, this richly illustrated book features rare photography, exclusive artworks, comprehensive discographies, and insider stories from legendary artists like Depeche Mode, Moby, and Goldfrapp. Critically acclaimed and meticulously curated, it offers an immersive journey through the label’s revolutionary impact on electronic and alternative music. ## Description The definitive visual chronicle of the innovative independent record label Daniel Miller created Mute Records to release his debut single (‘Warm Leatherette’/’T.V.O.D’), a pioneering electronic sound with a defiantly DIY attitude. Mute quickly established a reputation for releasing cutting-edge, chart-topping music and through the music of its community of artists – ranging from Fad Gadget, Moby, Can, Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds and Einstürzende Neubauten to Depeche Mode, Yazoo, Erasure, Laibach, Goldfrapp, Liars and Ben Frost – it has had an incalculable impact on popular music for four decades. Mute: A Visual Document is packed with stunning artwork and photography – much of it previously unseen – from the Mute Archives and Daniel Miller’s personal archives, including photography and video stills from legendary photographers, conceptual artworks, rare ephemera and equipment. Comprehensive discographies, a family tree of Mute artists, an extensive introduction and commentary by Daniel Miller, who has curated the materials for the book, plus anecdotal and photographic contributions from key figures in the label’s story, including Moby, Alison Goldfrapp, Anton Corbijn, Bleddyn Butcher, Brian Griffin, Jon Spencer, Barry Adamson, Ivan Novak, Angus Andrew, Adrian Shaughnessy, Tom Hingston, make this book the definitive chronicle of the label. Thank you Daniel Miller for this treat of a document. My main focus for buying this was Depeche Mode and their 7" singles, 12" singles and album art but it's also interesting to see the other artists' work too. Always loved the walking man Mute Records logo. ## Features - New Store Stock ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | Best Sellers Rank | 239,792 in Books ( See Top 100 in Books ) 113 in Electronica Music 114 in Electronic Musical Instruments 164 in Music Recording & Sound | | Customer Reviews | 4.7 out of 5 stars 130 Reviews | ## Images ![Mute: A Visual Document - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61xr4n8HAfL.jpg) ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Mute Mutandis *by M***. on 26 January 2021* A must for muting people. Recommended as a curio for fans of the Mute label / Depeche Mode / Nick Cave in particular.
