Give it five stars because when it worked it worked great! It was accurate, battery lasted a long time, co detection was good but it unfortunately failed on me.

I purchased this as a method to pinpoint CO leaks as needed in an RV. The unit works well and I have tested it in an environment with CO and it worked perfectly. Once exposed to CO it takes a few seconds to register. I specifically wanted something with standard batteries because my luck is when I need it rechargeable batteries are dead. This way I can quickly replace them. I read other reviews saying that it didn’t detect CO2 which it isn’t supposed to it detects CO (carbon monoxide) and it performs well. The unit is easily stored and portable. For the price point it is a great value.

I used this to determine that my oil burning furnace had no carbon monoxide exhaust leaks in the house. To verify that it was indeed working I turned it on and walked to my running car and as I approached the car the tester alarm went off and continued to increase as I got to the back of the car. It seems to only test CO and levels of CO. I was able to Check the entire house fully.

Just received this and tested it out today. Went thru the simple calibration/set-up and tested it using our gas stove as the source of CO. Worked as described. Have to believe what they state are the specifications and sensitivity since I have no other measurment method to compare against. While the stove burner was lit, I got very low readings of about 2ppm (nice blue flame). When I turned the burner off, (no flame) there was still gas coming from the burner for a split second and the meter reading briefly jumped to 75ppm+. So it works - accuracy seems reasonable.

This has absolutely saved us and brought me so much comfort! We bought an older house and it has a gas water heater, AC / Heater, and gas stove! Our carbon monoxide detector went off and the fire dept had to come out and air out the home! We bought this and I check the water heater closet occasionally especially on nights where my kids have baths. It's easy to use. Easy to read! Very accurate as we tested it initially with the exhaust from my husband's SUV. The dial shows very accurately how much carbon monoxide is present! It has showed a carbon monoxide leak for us twice now! The size is pretty small and compact and the quality is really good! It is also extremely affordable especially when you compare trying to switch to an electric water heater! If you have any gas appliances this is a must have!

I bought this unit because of the great features - Detection of CO, LCD display with multi-color detection alarm, LEL% and compact size. First the good part - Unit is of very good quality and extremely easy to use. However truly disappointed in the sensor capabilities. The sensor is not reliable. I got faulty readings of CO in open areas and the worst part is when you blow on the sensor, it threw a CO alert alarm, so basically I had CO being emitted from my breath which is absurd! I tested this on a car exhaust and the readings were erratic, out of three tests the sensor only detect CO coming out of the car exhaust once. I don't know if I got a bad piece which had a sensor defect however based on what I saw with this item, I will not recommend it.
