Perfect for a Day Hike
This is absolutely what I was looking for! First, this is a high-quality product - Princeton Tec is MADE IN THE USA and comes with a 5-year warranty, so yes quality does matter! And, as for price, this is an unbelievable value for $20 - you get: (as shown in the picture I took) *The Lamp which emits 50 lumens on low and 200 on high + red LED (at 1 & 4 lumen) *Strap - this includes an elastic strap * 2 AAA batteries I've had cheap headlamps before, and it's not worth it. Better to pay and receive a good quality product that will last if you need it - yes, one of my lamps died while I was hiking at night - fortunately I had a backup. As for time, at 200 lumens a fully charged lamp will last over three hours, while at 50 lumens it will last over 10 hours. At 50 lumen you will likely be able to see some 30+ feet ahead of you. The red LED is a really nice touch, and despite the low luminosity it works very well and you find yourself using it quite a bit. Bottom Line: If you're going to go day hiking, this is a must! This is also a great product which I easily recommend.

This is one sweet little Head Lamp
Small, light, bright enough for close quarters work, combination of red & white lights is nice, casing seems durable and water tight. AAA batteries last well though I do find myself recharging batteries every few hours of use to keep brightness high - power button is a little tricky to use with gloves on even with my thinnest tactical gloves, so something to get used to though WAY better than certain other products of this kind - I love the price and so just ordered another one so I have a back unit...

low intensity red light on first click. You won't accidently kill your night vision.
I bought this for my backyard astonomy. Works great. Would recommend it highly.

Quality piece of kit
Perfect size to throw in a pocket, very durable, I like that I have to hold down my power button to enter white light mode just helps with light discipline and such, I’ve had it for about a month and a half used it most nights in freezing or below freezing temps and the battery hasn’t died.

Almost Perfect
While this headlamp is an excellent value for the money, I feel like it could be better. The build quality is extremely nice and I love how lightweight it is. It is relatively easy to use and has great battery life. Now, for the cons. I know it has to do with the fact that it runs off a single AA battery but I feel that the light could be a little brighter and have a slightly more focused beam. The white light is excellent for short distance focused lighting and medium distance area lighting but offers no real benefit for distances beyond about 25 feet. For my needs, the fact that it doesn't feature a flashing mode makes it even more difficult to give it a 5 Star rating but it is a solid 4 Star worthy. As an exercise and hiking headlamp I give this a 5.9/10 recommendation. As a camping headlamp I give this a 7.89/10. As a general purpose or emergency use headlamp it gets an 8.95/10.

Best I've ever had and MADE IN USA
Extremely lightweight, doesn't flop around on your head, and comfortable. Also initially turns on yo the red light so you don't blind yourself or others like most other lights. Also went to national dark-space campsite where anything but red lights are banned and can get you kicked out for ruining peoples night vision for astronomical viewing- including ongoing research. At regular camp sights I normally only use red unless I absolutely NEED bright white light so it is nice that red turns on 1st. Red also makes the battery last forever! Heavier headlamps make me have to put a vice grip on the headstrong otherwise they always bounce, move, and slide down even with just normal walking. Also compatible with mole' attaching systems and a belt loop tgat can attach to any piece if clothing. Other headlamps are competing with vehicle headlights to make everyone at camp or on the trail blind.

Very great headlight.
First off, it’s well built, very light, small and compact. It dose rotate up and down. The button is right on top, very low profile and dose not make noise when you click it. It uses 2 AAA batteries. 1 click turns the low red light on, 2 clicks turns the brightness up on the red light. For the white light you have to hold the button down for 3 seconds and to turn the brightness up on the white light you have to click the button again as soon as you turn the white light on. This safety measure is mainly there for “military” use so you aren’t shining a bright white light around out in the field as soon as you turn the headlamp on. Plus the red light helps preserve your night vision a little better. Great product.
